These will be the last of my small candle mats until summer. I enjoy making large, complicated rug designs and have several beautiful primitive rugs planned. I enjoy the design process but a rug has to last me for some time in the stitching and the feeling of satisfaction comes only from a large, detailed penny rug. Pennies were stitched on my old burlap feed bags; what could be better than our traditional maple leaf! Of course, it should be red instead of green. Odds and ends of pennies and scraps of dyed cotton complete the little Burlap Bag Candle Mat. To have a good design in such a small rug I always use small pennies. Very time consuming but what to use to make this rug stand out? I think the French Knot in the center is perfect for this little mat. Bits of leftovers become a very nice primitive make do rug. A miniature little penny rug in the traditional diamond design, the Penny Diamond Candle Mat has everything one would find in a larger rug. Scallop penny border and cotton lining with a very primitive and aged look make this rug a lovely choice for that special collectible grouping in your primitive home. cee |
